Thanks for the dialog..I was going off of what I had read. Constructive discussion on this thread!

Also makes sense to do the merger in bankruptcy because the creditors/judge have a say!

BTW..Delta isn`t "purchasing 13 new jets"...Delta is leasing a bunch of old TWA 757`s that AA doesn`t want....

Well DAL lost a bunch of pilots to pre-age 60 retirement. They were eligible to take a lump sum or defined benefit pension. With CH.11 looming the vast majority of those who raeched eligibility retired on the day they became eligible and took the lump sum. Probably the smart thing to do...
