Default UAL Recalls

Word is that UAL is about 40 pilots from the bottom of the list in recalls. At current recall rates, the Jr. pilot should be offered a recall by the end of March 07.

As reminder the recall policy at UAL is similar to other ALPA contracts in that the recalled pilots are invited back in seniority order AND pilot have the right to return, bypass, or resign their seniority number. An estimated 60% have elected to bypass (hey it's a freebie) although when the Jr. pilot is recalled, the list will be called a second time in reverse seniority order. On the second call, a pilot must return to work OR resign their seniority number.

The one unknown is how many pilots, who are reserve or guard pilots, will accept recall and immediately go on military leave.

That's for the 5 Feb class. UAL will hit the bottom of the seniority list with the second Feb class.
Let's see how long it take UAL to spin up the newhire dept. My bet is newhire classes at UAL fall 07.
