The formatting on mine got all messed up too. I just went in and made it look as nice as possible. I would seriously hope they don't make hiring decisions based on the appearance of a text resume. They can see your nice one at the pilot credentials site.

The SWA careers page will only take so many applicants per job REQ#
Once that job REQ# hits its limit, then the request is closed and another REQ# may be created to facilitate more applications. A lot of people follow a weblink to a specific REQ# and find a dead end with a closed job listing. I can also confirm that there is no precedent on being "one of the first" or multiple job applications for the same career. In fact, it's those people who truly bog down the system and force HR to sift through redundant applications. If you got the email saying you application was received, then you are good to go. INTERNAL RECOMMENDATIONS GO THE FURTHEST OVER HOURS/TYPES/RESUME!!! If nobody at SWA knows you, or isn't plugging you, then don't fret waiting for an email inviting you to an interview. I interviewed in 2011 with no part 135 time and only 3700 military TT. There were plenty more qualified candidates than I was and they only had 4 classes to fill before the summer with no pilot pool to further fill. It was all about the internal recommendations that got my application moved to the consideration list. If they say they need 200 pilots, they will likely interview 2-3 times the requirement from the total and the panel of chief pilots will be big players in determining which pilots get the nod. Good Luck! |

My first question is how you got an interview with that experience? No disrespect at all, so please don't go down that road. I know many with great insight as well, but the experience you claim seems very low. Great you had the experience, I can imagine thousands are awaiting that opportunity. Thank you for sharing!
No disrespect taken...I'm straight military with a lot of AMEL and PIC/IP/EP time within the 3700TT (this is without military conversion as well). I don't know if that changes things to the readers of this thread but it seems like low numbers compared to most I interviewed with. A straight Navy Aviator was also interviewed in my group and his numbers was even fewer. But he had a lot of internal endorsements, as did I. Until the pool of nepotism runs dry, I don't believe the numbers to be as vital as who knows you from my experience. |
gooddeal, check your PMs. Thanks

Interesting. I was told with the new system they have in place, that your internal buds could only help you after you were selected for an interview. In other words they don't look at the recs until the computer has spit out your name based on points or whatever system they have.

If the rumors are true that a new SWA pilot can expect to sit reserve in OAK for 2+ yrs.
Can someone offer up some insight as to what a reserve schedule would look like? What would it be like trying to commute from Eastern or Central time zones? Thnx in advance... FMI |
Didn't see the post above. Would like to know the same info.
