Thanks! I appreciate it.

I'm a little confused about the email with a link to pilot credentials. I already had a profile on there from 2011, I updated it before the window opened and once the window opened I filled out the app on southwest's website. Is there something I'm missing?

If you don't get the email your resume and online app didn't make it to the next step.

Also had a file on the credentials site from previous years. Filled out questionnaire on swa/careers site, then updated my credentials file with new resume attached. All of this last Thursday when the window opened and had no trouble. Received an E-mail from SWA the next morning (just after 8am) stating my application had been received. Thats it thus far. Hope this helps and wish you the best of luck. |

Not sure Hrk,
Just checked mine and it says the same (closed). Itso, I take it you did not already have a profile at pilot credentials? |

I posted my stuff on sea/careers on day 1. Got a confirmation email the same day (auto generated). Today, I received this email. Meh, on second thought there's a confidentiality notice at the bottom of the email. So I've removed the direct quote of the email I received. Bottom line in the email is they tell you to go to pilotcredentials.com and complete/update your application by 30 September.

Note Post #93
"Don't worry about the job status saying "closed". As long as you applied and got the confirmation "thank you for applying" email you're good to go." |

My experience exactly. BUT, when I sign into my SWA account and click on "Applications," for my 12 Sep application under "Job Status" it says "Closed," just like my two previous apps (March and October 11). Have I been tossed already? :(

I wouldn't fret Herkdrivr,
They want everything in by 30SEP., I don't expect to hear anything till Oct anyway. I interviewed once and they really treated us great, will see what happens this round. Best of luck to everyone! |

My application on sea/careers says the same thing. I'm guessing someone is actually looking at the apps now and is sending links as they get through apps. I don't think you're done yet. Good luck!

As far as being treated well, one guy I know went so far as to say he'd had such a great time at the interview that he'd like to go back and do it again just because everyone was so nice, and he hated interviews... |
Has anyone who has interviewed that did not get the job in a previous opening, that has already had a profile on pilot credentials get the second email asking to fill out a profile?
I applied again the day it opened and have only got the one email saying thanks for applying. I interviewed once already in 2011 but was unsuccessful. Just curious if anyone is in the same boat I am. |

Interviewed once before as well. Had profile on swa/credentials that I hadn't updated in a long time. Received "New Hire Window to Open" e-mail from SWA support dept., stating the window was opening, fill out everything on SWA/careers site and update your file on SWA/credentials site. Did so that morning (THU 12SEP). Received 2nd e-mail from SWA the next morning (13SEP) which was an automated response stating my application was received. My status on SWA/careers is now "closed" which I take to be normal at this point in the process. I hope this helps and sure wish you the best of luck. |

Applied the day the window opened. No Pilot Credentials email as of this morning.
2300 hours (1900 hours fighter, IP/FE), new regional FO, no 737 type, Service Academy grad, MBA. |
If anyone wanted to share, would like to know how many hours people have, have the type, four year, military, etc. Could be fierce I imagine.
|
4700 TT
2800 TPIC 4-yr degree Check Airman 737 type (along with 2 others) Didn't get a phone call the last 2 windows. Hoping 3rd time is the charm! Best of luck to all :) |
3600TT
3300PIC 737 type Times approximate. All tactical military. Got hired during the last window. In my class of 24 about 1/3 pure military, 1/3 pure civilian, and 1/3 had both backgrounds. Hours from not that many, like me, to a lots for some of the civvie regional flyers. I think if you're over the minimum requirements, you shouldn't sweat the hours. Good luck... And hurry! |
9500TT
4000TPIC 737 type No Mil. 4 yr degree Interviewed SWA once. Good luck... :) |
Interesting, I applied the previous two windows and this one. The previous two I did not have a degree and got the pilot credentials link. Now I have my degree and more time 8800 TT no type and did not get the link? I did however, go onto pilot credentials and update my existing account. Thoughts?
|
Sounds like the emails with the links are still going out. Keep the faith!

FYI... From Southwest...
Thank you for your question. You did everything correctly. You need to apply to both websites to be considered for hire. We are having a few IT issues on the Southwest.com website. This is delaying an email that will be sent out to all qualified applicants directing them to the pilot credentials site. The emails should be going out as we speak but please pass on to all your friends that they can go ahead and begin filling out the profile at their earliest convienience. As you know, its a long process and we want everyone to have plenty of time to complete it. |
Great updates all. Mine-applied on 12th, received 2nd email on 17th. I suspect they're just catching up.
As to quals: 3800TT, F16EP/IP, B52, No type, Some civilian time, MBA + another unused Master's. Never interviewed/Good luck. It'll be fierce. |

Just out of curiosity, when could someone expect to upgrade if they've been with Southwest since the early 2000s. Can an individual who does not make it through up grade return to the right seat?

I believe they have an "up or out policy," but I'm not positive.

No up or out policy, you can choose to remain an F.O. indefinitely. A failed upgrade will be allowed to return to the right seat provided they can pass an F.O. PC. |
Do your homework on probability of selection vs cost of type and QOL in Oakland. Not bad idea to review best case upgrade times. A good company but no longer the best job in the industry for new hires. YMMV.
