Teamsters Local Union No. 357

Republic Airways Pilots: “No Confidence in COO, Senior Management”

INDIANAPOLIS -- Pilots at Republic Airways Holdings (NASDAQ: RJET) can now prove what many have vocalized for years – they have no confidence in senior management’s ability to run the airline or negotiate fairly for new pay and work rules.

Teamsters Local No. 357, the labor union that represents the pilots at the Indianapolis-based company, released results of a one-week “No Confidence Vote” held from September 30 to October 7.

97.5% percent of pilots voted “No Confidence in Wayne Heller COO RAH (RJET) and his Senior Leadership Team. 1409 out of the eligible 2093 pilots voted.

Pilots have asked for an opportunity to show their displeasure in the company’s latest offer and how the company operationally treats its pilots, said Local 357 Executive Board President Craig A. Moffatt.

International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local No. 357 represents the pilots at Chautauqua, Republic Airlines, and Shuttle America, all owned by Republic Airways Holdings and operates on behalf of American Airlines, Delta, Frontier, United, and US Airways.

The pilots’ contract with Republic Airways Holdings was written in 2003 and has been "amendable" since 2007. The Railway Labor Act, which includes airline pilots, does not allow contracts to expire. After years of negotiations, the union and company agreed to federal mediation with the National Mediation Board (NMB) in 2011. Later that same year, over 99 percent of the pilots voted in favor of a strike. However, the government-appointed mediator has refused to schedule additional meetings and has refused to move the parties to arbitration, but will not release the parties to the next step in the process – a 30-day cooling off period before a strike could legally occur.

In addition to a prolong battle over an updated contract and industry-standard work rules, pilots are upset with the company’s failure to stem the tide of high pilot attrition due to the poor working conditions, pay, and work rules and failure to plan for the New Part 117 Flight Time and Duty Time Regulations, both of which will result in a much higher burden on the pilot group.

FINALLY, in their own Press Release, the IBT and 357 admit they don't represent or claim to represent the Frontier pilots in any manner. Their honesty is as overdue as it is refreshing.

So only a little over half of the Toonster pilots bothered to vote in whatever this vote was about? Looks like another wheelbarrow full of FAIL from the Toonsters. Do you honestly think anyone, anywhere actually cares what a bunch of regional pilots think? Get your time and get the hell out. That is the natural order. Trying to improve a regional airline is seriously like trying to polish a turd and calling it a jewel. All the majors will be hiring soon. Unless you're one of the 300 lifers that can't be hired anywhere, your energies are much better spent just moving on. I know I can be a bit harsh, but seriously, every mainline pilot wants places like Republic to fail so the jets go back to mainline where they belong. It's going to be a painful transition as regionals shrink back into oblivion, but not every regional pilot deserves to have a job in the industry.

Indigo finds our delusion to be very real.

It's not worth (or impossible to) discuss this with someone who doesn't have any or a majority of the facts. If your only source of information is from Muffin & Co., than you're ill prepared to render a judgement on the arrangement.

And, if you have chosen to accept everything Muffin & Co. say as fact, you have pretty much insulated yourself against honest, factual and unemotional information that could affect your view on the situation.

I take what the Spirit pilots have to say about Frankie to heart, he's going to be tough to deal with and we will have a few years of unrest under Indigo.

Hopefully we can learn from the Spirit pilot's experience and ease the pain a bit, at least until they spin us off in an IPO.

That's a good plan, however don't expect the beatings to stop at the IPO. Indigo kept 12+ million shares over two years after the Spirit IPO. And while it wasn't technically a controlling share, they exerted major influence on the operation, so much so that I was told even middle management in FLL referred to Phoenix as Mordor!

***?!? Are you showing a side that might not be filled with pure hate? Another ***... I think I can actually agree with you to an extent on your opinion.

When Indigo changes the entire company profile that made F9 a great airline even the F9 pilots will be applying for jobs at the majors. Because I am almost certain that Denver will no-longer be a hub and the presents of F9 will be less than 5% of the market share at DIA. Of course... Indigo says "We want to underscore that this is Denver's hometown airline," Franke told The Post. "We think Frontier has a very loyal customer base in Denver and we don't have any plans of abandoning that."

We have heard that before.
Best of Luck to both sides
