JetBlue Sept. 26-27 interview group
Thought I'd start the thread for those of us who interviewed on Sept 26-27. I think at this point most Phase II emails have gone out so the next question is: who is getting calls for class and when?

How would someone find out they didn't make it? Email or snail mail? Know a guy who hasn't heard anything since interview...

Just out of curiosity, those that interviewed. Did they submit an app when the Feb window opened?

I think Phase I is by email, whether good or bad, and you get a letter FedEx if you don't make it out of Phase II. Weird that he hasn't heard about Phase I. Maybe they're not done with that after all.

My bud emailed them asking for the yay or nay so he could move on. Looks like they left him of the email list :o He is on to phase two and couldn't be more excited!

Buddy got called for a late October interview, good news to those who just interviewed, means people coming up behind you quicker. And his app was from the most recent opening , which was beginning of the year I believe.

As was said to me a million times, if you don't hear anything, you're in good shape.
Classes should be running through '14. Just hang on and wait for the call, took about 3 months from my interview till notification for a class. |
Anyone heard any news since the email for Phase II? With the government back up and running, hopefully there wont be a delay for the background checks of PRIA records. Anyone have insight on when classes might be for those who interviewed on the 26th/27th? Thanks for any info!

Those interviewing in Sept would probably have class dates of Nov 13th, Dec 4th or Jan/Feb, depending on how quickly backgrounds clear. |

I received a copy of my previous training records from my old employer, so the letters were at least sent. Nothing from the FAA yet.

7 months since hired and still haven't received a phase II email.....don't worry /expect a email anytime soon for those who interviewed , your class will prob come before your email ever does .

Anybody else get a call today for the 13 Nov class? Job offers are still conditional since the backgrounds aren't done yet. Looks like the word at the interview was correct. They have immediate classes to fill.
Anyone know what the benefits are like? I didn't get to ask the question at the interview. |

Also, your eligibility is the first day of the month after completing 30 days of employment. Nov. 13 class would be eligible for benefits on January 1, 2014. |

I was in the 11:00 interview group on the 26th. I got the call at about 3:00 today. Blew me away that they would call on a Sunday, but Joanne said she had 23 spots in the class to fill. Best of luck to everyone waiting!

Send your cards in new hires. ASAP. Benefits are opposite of good. 1300 annual deductible per family member. Ltd will be reduced in 2014 to 55 percent in most states.

Getting Rid of the “Wrong Pilots”
“… it [attrition] continues to be a longer-term concern. But we’re looking at the data. And every time we do attrit a Pilot, we are looking at the - just what is the profile of a Pilot that attrits from JetBlue so that we can be smarter in who we’re hiring so that we don’t continue to have a long tail of attrition away from JetBlue.” (Source: COO Call-In, June 2013) Recent corporate communications seem to be spreading the message that the current airline industry-wide hiring boom does not worry the ELT, nor provide any concern for our Training Department. Why then are Pilots holding recall capability receiving calls and pleads from their CPs? Why are New-Hires being sent home for a two-week delay prior to starting their first training event? The COO has stated that he doesn’t know what a “destination airline” really is. Is he about to find out which major airlines are career destinations for Pilots and which one is not…? Does he even care…?? Is ELT Trying to Get Rid of the “Wrong Pilots”…? “If you are uncomfortable with our business partners doing our long-haul flying, or if you really want to fly heavy aircraft, this may not be the right place for you….” (Source: Jet Blue management pilot at recent OSC Recurrent session) “They (People Dept.) have briefed ELT and senior leaders that JetBlue and Flight Operations have no problem attracting qualified and interested candidates at this time. Rest assured, we are modeling the scenarios and feel comfortable from an attraction standpoint…. My peers in JBU have just briefed ELT and senior leaders on the department’s ability to handle a large through-put of training in case of attrition….Although we don’t want to lose any Pilot to a competitor, we have modeled potential attrition and built training safeguards to ensure we can continue to grow our airline into the future.” (Source: SVP Ops email, Sept 19, 2013) Based on communications up and down the entire Jet Blue management chain, Pilot Contractual Needs Pilot Asks Pilot Begs must not really be a priority. The new semi-collaborated PEA, which was supposed to be released in July, then September, and now maybe November, is being withheld for what reason? The promised PSIA pay can be easily calculated by an Intern with a spreadsheet in just a few minutes. While we fully expect the new pay rates to remain well below PSIA, in conjunction with further contract “Takeaways”, why is the August compensation review result still being withheld? The BOD has the 2014 budget for review so Pilot pay has already been determined. Why is the ELT delaying the release of what they have already decided upon…? Are they hoping to shift the blame for our continued sub-standard pay rates onto the “Wrong Pilots” in retaliation for our seeking Representation…? Anyone raising concerns, daring to speak their minds to ELT, or even thinking about ORGANIZING to try and hold ELT to their 2009 PCRB/PSIA contract promises, is “not a good fit for Jet Blue” and was obviously hired in error. In other words, our below-average pay, work rules, vacation, health care, sick time, job protections, STD/LTD aren’t really issues worth addressing. “If you don’t like it here…LEAVE…We can just hire more to replace you….” Well, it looks like we are doing just that..! Is ELT Turning Jet Blue Into a Stepping Stone Airline…? While exact numbers are in dispute, Jet Blue pilots are leaving for other “Failed Model” Peer Set Airlines in ever-increasing numbers. Pilots throughout the seniority list, from newly arrived Trainees to Captains who have been here for over twelve years, are flooding out of Jet Blue for AA (a bankrupt airline), USAir (an airline still dealing with SLI issues), DAL, UAL, FedEx and that “unsustainable” (yet highly successful) low-cost airline, SWA. Every Pilot who is younger than 50 years old is re-evaluating the “value” of a career at JB and whether or not it stacks up to the COO’s “value” of “having a job here in 5, er 10, I mean, 20 years.” Weren’t we supposed to be “contrarian” and “sustainable”, better than all those other, third-party represented airlines? Is this really how the ELT wants to staff the airline? Can a major airline succeed by staffing itself with temporary hires? Has the value of an experienced, Professional Pilot at JB fallen so far in the eyes of the ELT that we are expendable, like low-wage, part-time employees? Does this explain why our healthcare is almost as good as that of a Wal-Mart greeter…? How could this happen at an airline like Jet Blue…? What happened to our airline founder’s promise, “We have no problem hiring pilots furloughed from other carriers….We will make this place so awesome they won’t EVER want to go back…?” (Source: David Neeleman at numerous new-hire orientations) The Training Department is searching for ways to increase staffing “efficiency”, to include paying instructors by event. The simulator schedule is being evaluated for 24/7 operations, with “redeye” training events intended to support recurrent, upgrades, and new hires. Can our Training Department really support Part 117 hiring and upgrades and recurrent and attrition??? Have you spoken with a JBU instructor lately? Have you spoken to anyone just out of recurrent? The ELT and the front-line instructors are telling two vastly different stories…! The ELT is just now seeing the exodus bow-wave of pilot discontent due to the failures of the Direct Relationship. Morale has reached levels so low that participation in the yearly Speak-Up survey is at single digits. When was the last time a town-hall was held specifically to drum up support for an on-line survey? Even the COO call-in participation has been reduced to “the usual suspects” as most Pilots have simply disengaged. We have reached the point where WE MUST ACT NOW…! If you are “holding” your card, waiting for something to happen, you are holding up our ability to ACT as a collective force. Send in your card NOW and we can move forward. It is time for us to take control of our careers here at JB instead of playing the ELT’s waiting game to just “see what happens.” Be informed: Keep up with the PVC’s excellent emails and educational documents to gain more understanding of the career shortfalls and lack of protections we are saddled with under the DR. So... did they say if there was only the one class in November? I'm guessing so due to the large number in the class. Anything for December and beyond? Is there typically a method to how guys get awarded class? Morning interview guys first? |

I posted because this is one side's suggestion on why the big classes right now that seem to be overtaxing the training capacity. But yes, probably some hijacking going on.

I got that one and no others. My understanding is there are 40 or so people from day one and the November and December classes are about 20 each.... So I think a few from the 27th may get called for December but mostly tilt be 2014. Just my guess. |
Counting the emails addresses attached to one of the emails, the November class has 24 people in it.
