Vets In Blue
Anyone going to this on 11/21? I've got a confirmation and plan to attend. Reads to me just like a meet and greet, get to know you and maybe get a recommendation for when they open the window again.
I'm reading up on JB and plan to be ready for anything they throw at me but was wondering if there were any previous Vet events and what they were like if anyone happens to know?

It was full, people were standing lining the walls. They said they had a wait list with just as many people on it. They are expecting to have a second Vets in Blue sometime this year just so they can see the dudes on the waitlist. How do you spell pilot shortage again?

Couple of big takeaways from today:
Military can add .3 to all mil times (yes 30% increase of flying times not sorties)--we clarified this several times to make sure we heard it right.
50 people in pool and plan to hire 250-350 next year.
2 interview sessions (49 applicants each) per month next year except Jun/Jul/Aug.
Steady state hiring based on continued growth is 150-200 per year.
Military applications are depleted...open window allows more military to maintain good mix of new hires (lots of apps from regionals).
Window is open for 30 days to allow those that need to take ATP test time--your app will drop out if you don't have ATP checked.
Hiring team recommended you add a cover letter..."standard practice"
Expect to see more growth at FLL (45 flight a day to 100)...South/Central America is primary target.
JB thinks high time helo pilots get overlooked by the airlines so they are trying to be less restrictive on how that time is included.
VP said to expect "big" airlplanes within a decade...seems they are focused on flying long haul North/South routes for long term strategy/business plan.
Enjoyed the event and meeting some old friends and jetBlue leadership/crew members
