Thank you much!!

186 newbs by June 1. Lots of hiring. Looks like BOS 190 will have the most motion with 55 open slots.

Good luck dudes

benzoate 12-06-2013 10:19 AM

The attrition is only beginning. Kind of sad really. Lots of good people leaving.

Actually 239. You need to account for the vacancies left when people upgrade. These numbers though are not definate for FO's and are just used as a guide for the training department.

The FO vacancies account for upgrades. Talk to crew planning.

That's what we hear, yes. And they said 100 in jan/feb. So either 3 really big classes or 4 still big ones. I think almost everyone in dec 5th was a September interview. Most got the call a little over two weeks before class, a few were called last minute, I assume as replacements. Good luck! First two days have been pretty impressive by the way.

I get what you're saying but in all seriousness we are losing some good people. Good pilots who fought to make this place better but saw the reality of our situation.

I hear ya. The reality is that theyll be easily replaced by regional guys like me who dont have your perspective yet. Ive hated the unions that Ive been a part of in 2 airlines and Its so much better here than where I came from. For most guys who are new, this is the case. I do realize that my tune could change very quickly however. Good luck to all-it'll get interesting soon.

Not to difficult to be better then Mesa or Republic.

Thats because its supposed to be better. It sounds like you are new to JB, welcome, I hope you enjoy your time here and make it a better place. However, please remember you are now at a MAJOR and should be treated and compensated as such. You seem like a smart guy though, you will see the light soon enough! Took me just under a year myself!

If that's the case, I am hoping that the Dec class cleaned out all of the Sep interviews. Since it was a big class that might be the case

Yup- a different perspective which always changes when the honeymoon is over. I would be careful however Sig, comparing JB to Delta/United/AA- we are not those airlines. A union will take years to effect change but it would provide certain protections. No easy answers for sure.

Nobler 12-07-2013 05:56 AM

Thanks for the info. That sounds really good.

Nobler 12-07-2013 06:23 AM

I contacted Sterling about the status of my background check. They are still waiting for a PRIA report from a corporate operation I flew for years ago. Would this prevent me from getting a call for the next class, or is this one of those situations that leads to a delayed passing of "phase 2" after being called for training?

benzoate 12-07-2013 06:26 AM

Keep in mind that while your ALPA regional experience is real it's not necessarily applicable to Jetblues or a majors airlines situation. The nature of the relationship between a major airline and it's pilots group is substantially different than that of a regional pilots with its airline and the major airline it is contracted to fly for.

It might delay your call for a classdate. Try to get in touch with your previous employer to give them a poke. Whether you get a class now or later you probably won't get the official "Congrats you passed Phase II" until you are just about ready to get on the line and start flying.

The two guys I know never got the pass phase II emails...and were offered class dates...This waiting process really is stressful!!!

I contacted my previous employers daily...getting on their a**es in returning the PRIA requests...my stuff has been complete for about 2 weeks now...just waiting on that golden phone call!! :D

Yeah, I have made several calls prodding my previous employer, they are one of those horror stories you hear about. Sterling said they would close the matter in thirty days if they still did not receive a response. Would calling Joanne and explaining my situation be like shoot myself in the foot?

Hah, yea I wouldn't stress about the Phase II emails. I was finished with simulator training before I received mine.

Most likely she can't do anything until Sterling passes it back to her, but might be worth sending an email.

XForces 12-07-2013 03:09 PM

What the hell is it with the previous employee thing?!? I had to contact one of mine and practically threaten bodily harm of they didn't get my employment verification out!

It happened later that day.....

Did you get my PM?

NYBlue 12-11-2013 04:57 PM

Talked to recruiters today. They said an email will go out shortly to give a phase 2 update, with forecasted class dates for Jan and Feb. Jan 8th class almost full and next class is Jan 22nd. The pilot hiring committee will be meeting soon and reviewing those with all PRIA info complete. Those who get the thumbs up from Sept/Oct/Nov sessions would be in Jan-Feb classes. Only bad news is those planned for the Jan 22nd class and beyond may have to move their applications over to the new system by "re-applying" (just so that they can be cleared quicker, because they said the new system moves faster for background clearing).

Advice - if your prior employers are dragging their feet in completing PRIA, you should do whatever you can to get them to speed up - as you'll lose seniority fast. Recruitment team said class sizes are planned 20-30 in Jan/Feb (two classes per month), so every class you miss, means you're losing seniority.

Yes, two classes in January and every month until the summer. That's the plan for now anyway.

I got the email last night. I think everyone in phase 2 received it not just those in Jan 22nd and beyond. It will have to wait till I get home. No commuter access right now and I don't think I should fill it in on my phone. Anybody else?

I am in phase 2 and received it as well. It is fairly short, but not an easy or intuitive application to fill out. You probably want a computer or iPad to fill it out. There are also a few sections that don't seem to really fit for someone already interviewed and put into phase 2. I emailed in a couple questions and could post answers later assuming I get them.

Got the same email, let me know if you get any info or guidance from them, I did my app last night.

I have not received any further phase 2 email. Just the general class email with details. I don't believe my phase 2 is complete either. I am in the Jan 8th class and interviewed 10/29.
