But just for reference sake, UAL 777 CA at what would have been the end of Contract 2000 was 316.45. I believe that would have been in 2003. DAL's pre BK contract would have been 319.61 in 2004. Those rates will be MORE than 10 years old before new rates are negotiated. Actually, I'm fairly certain that the DAL Contract 2000 last active B777 CA rate was $337. |

But if it was the 337, that just makes the case STRONGER that even if we se the "330 hour", pilots are STILL way behind rates from 10+ years ago with inflation/COL increases factored in. |
Airfare has to go up if we want to see those rates again. 25 Years ago it cost the same amount to fly around this whole big ass country as it does now... In some cases cheaper. Just sayin.

I'd have to go through all the UAL's financials from the time the CBA took effect till 9/11. And I'm sure the pretty charts/graphs would correspond with the increase in labor costs. But I wonder how much it TRULY affected UAL's bottom line? No matter. I think it was Jake Brace that was asked in 2001 in an interview how well UAL was doing with the increase in labor costs after contract 2000. With downward turn the the economy was taking at that time, he said something along the lines of "we'll be getting that money back out of labor' |
