Great job by both pilots, to get that jet away from the ground and then to land it later, uneventfully.

Prior to 9/11 I was jumpseating out of EWR to somewhere and while sitting in the cockpit of a 737, holding number 1, we watched as a 757 aborted its landing. There was a ton of crosswind and it was extremely gusty when this 757 made his approach. At about 100 feet, he got into a wing rock like you wouldn't believe. For a split second or two, he was in at least a 30 degree right bank. He managed to pull it out and executed a missed. All three of us just sat there with very large eyes. I don't think that any of us really wanted to go after watching that show. I'm quite sure that a change of underwear was required for both guys on that jet, that day. And that's why we get the big bucks!

Saw something similiar to that back in October in KMEM.... DC-10 on a windy day.... up till the point where he touched down and bounced twice I would have sworn he was gonna crash....

757s have been known to have a wing rocking problem under certain conditions on final due to airflow separation over the flaps when the spoilers are deployed. Boeing put out a mod a few years ago that adds vortex generators to the leading edge of the outboard main flaps to fix the problem.
