I just watched the webcast concerning the plan of reorganization- it looks as if the USAir thing is all but dead, and that Delta will emerge in early spring as a very competetive airline.

They also stated that they are open to another merger. They don't want it to be USAir. Truly the only reason USAir wants to do this is because they do not want to compete with the new DAL out of Section 11. DAL will be to mean and lean.

I took a look at the latest Delta bid results. It was published last week. The "D" is drawing down the CVG MD88`s. Quite a few of the guys lost their positions there, and for the most part, are coming to ATL. Also a large number of 767 copilot jobs were not even bid on, requiring some assignments to those positions. A couple of dozen new captains were bid and given out in New York. I believe there are 142 furloughed pilots still "out there", anyone`s guess how many will come back when offered a spot (which will come quickly). Hiring off the street in the spring.

That's exactly what I could imagine them saying. That's not, however, what they said. I listened to the webcasts, went over the data presented, and came to the conclusion I posted here. I don't want to become DAL's version of Captain Chip (USAir), and I realize that this presentation is designed to show a rosy scenario, but Delta's POR looks very promising.

I predict a ICT/UCT/fragmentation of UAL (scratch that; fast forward to late 2006 and make that DAL) where USAirways is the acquiring carrier.
For those not familiar with the terms ICT or UCT, you really must read the rest of my posts. I've only got >5400 posts on another board.
Nothing personal, but he's DAL's headache now. He won't be missed by those of us at UAL.
