Default Non-rev on Delta

I am not sure if i should post it here. But didn't knew what would be the correct place.

Any way, thinking to non-rev to Bangkok(BKK) on Delta. The route goes from Atlanta-Narita-BKK.

The layover shows about 2 hours. I am guessing it is the same aircraft that refuels and departs for BKK or is it plane change?

So as a Non-rev if you get a seat from ATL-Narita. Do you need to check with gate to get seat for Narita-BKK or the seat is assigned for the entire route is assigned in Atlanta.

Thank you

On each leg you will be sweating it out hoping to get a seat...you should really check with your sponsor and additionally check the Delta online traVel guide for nonrevs.

Each segment is different. You'll need a seat for each flight.

Used to be if it was the same flight number you got priority over the non-revs at the intermediate stop. That was pre-merger and may have changed.

That is still the case but I believe the flight numbers are different for each sector of the ATL-NRT-BKK trip, so as stated above each flight requires its listing and priority.

China,
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in fact on a through or continuing flight all non revs are now deplaned and start from scratch on the non rev priority.
Used to be the case trying to get to Hawaii in SLC that you never knew how many non revs on the atl to slc leg were through so even with seats you may not get on. Now since the merger everyone reclears in SLC so your priority is reset.

Default Non-rev on Delta

I am also nonreving internationally on Delta. A friend said that sometimes they will put cargo on a wide open flight, and leave the nonrevs behind. Has this happen to anyone?

It happened coming out of Dubai last week. We left with 3 empty first class seats and a few in coach as well, and the non-revs stayed in DXB, while we carried 30,000lbs of cargo instead.

The program is called "Payload Optimization" and it's aim it to fill the airplane with paying freight right up to the max allowable take off wt. and leave the non-revs behind.
