upgrade to ca and go back to first year pay

Looking at the pay scales on APC, it looks like first year FO pay at AA or USAir is $40/hr while the brand new first year upgraded captain make $35! Unless I'm reading it wrong, first year newly upgraded captain doesn't fare too well with AA.

You carry your company longevity when you upgrade to CA. If you were a 9yr FO you would transition to 9yr CA payscale.
