Have heard conflicting information. Are there any Delta new-hires out there that completed training in Miami that can confirm whether or not they were paid per diem?

Not a new hire, but yes you will get per diem since you are not based, and we do not have a base in Miami. It was the same way when I was hired and trained in Miami back in 00.

Just so you can read it yourself it's in section 5 of the PWA lodging and expenses.

Thanks. The New Hire Guide states several times that on new hire pay, the PWA does not allow for per diem, but I also heard it was paid.

I am a new hire and I did my 300 and 400 series sims in MIA. The accommodations were quite nice and most of us had suites with a small kitchen. The hotel also provided breakfast and dinner Mon-Thurs but most likely you'll miss out on 1 of the meals due to the sim schedule. I can also verify you are paid per diem while in MIA, it increased my paycheck by $623 for the pay period in question.

New Hire Guide isn't a controlling document. All you need to know is what the PWA, FOM, and FARs say. And don't expect anyone in management to point out where those documents break in your favor. Be prepared to show them where they are wrong when they claim they are right.

That's very poor advice for a new hire on probation, IMO.

OK, so they should call their mentor or Contract Admin first as a NH. Probably good advice for everybody. Seriously though, you advocate letting the company walk all over the PWA with new hires?

Or the LCA I flew with who was trying to tell me what I did on a crossing was against company policy. When he had the Fleet Captain call me at home to point out my error, I had to read him the applicable section of the AM to show where the captain was wrong. To his credit, the LCA called me back and apologized.

I disagree. If our PWA says per diem will be paid, then one should get per diem. If not, respectfully point it out in the contract. Don't bend over just because you're new.
