I would love for everyone who has been to CAE and flown downwind at night to do this survey.

For some reason, CAE's lights are OK when you are lined up with the rwy..... But they are absolutely too dim when abeam.

I have noticed this at other places, but no where as bad as CAE.

In general, though the LEDs are much dimmer at distance.

I've experienced this (single engine piston). The field is hard to spot if you're not looking right down a runway. I'll use the crossing runway to get the airport in sight and then can orient myself to get to the active. The 5 bright UPS lamps on their ramp (5/23) are also good indicator of where the airport is. Otherwise, vectors for an ILS.

What you meant to say was that it's the greatest thing to happen to aviation since Delta Air Lines pilots found this website. http://www.beechtalk.com/forums/imag...s/dance013.gif
