757Driver, please do explain what "Torque" means to you, for those of us who are not enlightened. I have a lot of respect for Fireman, and a lot of the older pilots around here - some here do not seem to share that same respect, or realize the value of their experience and long careers with the airlines. I certainly do respect that, and also know that many others respect guys like Fireman.
You have already made it clear how you stand on the Age 60 legislation, so no need to repeat yourself there.

Try Our Real Quality United Experience.
United employees, pilots included, staked out the curbs and checkin counters for Continental at Stapleton.
The pin had TORQUE on the frontside. On the back, there was a depiction of a Continental tail with a screw through it.
Fireman's recollection of the Frontier interactions is much different than Frontier pilots have stated.

Then you must either not have been employed by UAL in the late '80's or were on leave at the time. Andy's post pretty much sums up the activity that took place and it was indeed embarrassing. Thankfully most of the idiots that supported that campaign are either retired or will be leaving shortly.
I have nothing but the greatest admiration for Uniteds Pilots but that was indeed a very weak attempt to make CAL go away and left lasting memories for many of us.

I was flying in the Air Force at the time, not for United, but my apologies. We have more than a few skeletons in UAL ALPA's closet. I didn't bother to mention how we treated Air Wiskey pilots because that was not in the same timeframe as the original topic.

I guess I wouldn't know where to begin apologizing for the wonderful Pilots we hired between 83-85, so I won't even bother to go there.

Age to be US President - 35
Age to be US Senator - 30
Age to be US Rep - 25
Age to Vote - 18
Age to Drive -16-18 Depending on state
Age to drink - 21
Age to get full social security 65-67 depending when you were born
Age to get pilot's license -17
Age to get commercial pilot's license -18
Age to get ATP license - 23
Which one is not of these is not government mandated? But it's ok to discriminate in these situations?
Is a 20 yr 10 mo 29 day old really not mature enough to drink but add a day and then it's ok?? There is always going to be "some" type of discrimination.
Just as there are some 60+ year olds that would be fine in the Capt's seat, and some 50 year olds that should have retired already; society must find an age that can be accepted to define when someone is or isn't fit to hold some position.
