Dom..

The big difference is as a percentage of operations, EK gets much more benefit out of this type operation due to it occurring at the home base of Dubai (in-country)vs the US carriers only being able to get this benefit from overseas outstations.

But I agree with your assessment about RJ's and domestic feed.

I was mostly discussing the ground personnel issue…

I liked the commercial. This is reminiscent of so many battles in the past. As a kid I remember watching US auto workers smashing Japanese cars on TV. While different in many ways it is also similar in the fact that the U.S. Auto industry was aweful in the 1970's. It took getting there arse handed to them to make the improvements they needed. Unfortunately for Detroit they were never able to get rid of the Japanese competition. Perhaps the airline industry won't suffer in the same way. The product currently offered, regardless of the reason, are not competitive on the global market. The gate agents, flight attendants, cleanliness, RJs, airport facilities, are a 1971 Buick. Anderson et al can complain all they want but in the long run the product has got to improve.

Kaptanleunant,
I read that the monthly pay of an EK Captain was around $10,000 a month.
Is this number approximately correct?

If it wasn't for the US and EU tax codes subsidizing them they'd face a mass exodus that would shut them down overnight.

I would have to ask my friend to be 100% accurate. I think FO's make 10,000 and CA's make 20,000 per month.

FOs start at around $7400 a month. 2% increase every year. My info may be a few years old.

Just over $10k/mo USD for CAs- closer to $11.5k with flight pay. ($100,800 tax free limit for 2015)
