He wasn't kicked off for saying Inshallah he was investigated because another passenger thought she heard the word martyr.

The passenger apparently said that she heard the word “shahid,” which means martyr.

OP, you spend any time in the Middle East? You might change your tune.
Just like Ahmed and his clock. We've been told "if you see something say something". Someone did just that now people are being sued for $15 million and Ahmed and his suitcase clock got to meet the President at the Whitehouse.

4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and numerous amounts of time in other Middle Eastern countries.

Present day - on military leave from my airline job and writing this post from one of those other countries in the Middle East where we are fighting some very bad people.

That's why I started this thread because I'm reading about this more and more and idiots like LAXative stating that a hydrogen bomb should just be used and you stating that he needs to wise up and have some SA because he is a young Middle-Eastern man speaking Arabic on a plane is asinine.

Yes, we as a society can't be politically correct all the time but just because he said "Inshallah" during his conversation does not have anything to do with being a martyr. Inshallah is used for everything because they believe everything is God's will.

With that, I'm going to bed because it is almost 0030 and I have to fly in the morning.
Like was said - bad SA on the part of the kid on the airplane too.

That also happens to be said right before certain types of terrorists blow up bombs in public places.

We are at war.
You know this.

Since you are sitting over there right now - why don't you try going out on the town and doing something with equally bad SA in whatever country it is where you presently sit and see if you get a different reaction.

That "clock" thing is absolutely outrageous!

His parents probably set the whole stunt up for him. What happened is someone took a bedside alarm clock/radio halfway apart and splayed its wires all over a small pencil case..... Looked exactly like a freaking suitcase bomb to anyone without professional or military explosives training.

Of course, his stunt worked-he got to meet pres Islam himself-and he is going to school in the middle east for free.....

Stupid Americans.

Yes, but next trip is my last!

Than why does he need an apology for "gods will"?

Thank you for your service.

I'd rather have a normal harmless Muslim on my plane any day over a Bundy rancher type.

Not all, or even close to all Muslims are bad people. And the same with law breaking cow turds.

Sometimes, people are just bad.

I'm also arachnophobic. Of course I know not all spiders are bad and will cause me harm but if one is crawling on me or in my living room I'm not waiting around to see what type of spider it is. I squish first and examine later knowing I kept myself safe. Those really bad spiders give the good spiders a bad reputation. It's unfortunate but reality.
"Phobia" implies an irrational fear...your fear is rational so you're not islamaphobic.

So I'm currently sitting at a gate in ORD waiting for the inbound plane. The gate agent working the flight is wearing a hijab.

Is that also "bad SA" on her part, or just yet another presumably innocent person living their life?

How many "bundy rancher" types have killed anyone?
