Spirit Pilots Request Mediation to Facilitate Contract Negotiations

In other words, Spirit pilots won't get a contract for 2-3 more years. Why would anyone apply to Spirit?

TankerDriver 07-06-2016 02:46 AM

And in the meantime, Spirit reaps record profits...

Try another 8 years! Management gets the costs savings of not having to pay the pilots the current going rate for an Airbus Pilot. The longer we go without a contract;...... truly benefits management and the shareholders.

Makes me wonder why a company would give a pay raise in the first place.

I'm no financial guru, but I don't see where people with spirit stock are benefiting either. The stock doesn't pay out any money and its down. I just looked and it was at 64 dollars at one time, now it's at 43 dollars, so the way I see it, only management is benefitting from keeping pilot costs so low and making huge profits. I'm sure Bob, bendo and Yuri's paychecks aren't industry standard, I'm guessing they're quite a bit above.

So is it realistically a couple years out? That will kill the company and their ability to attract quality pilots. Another thread said it is almost agreed upon, I guess I hat is a joke?

That was tongue in cheek. We aren't anywhere close. The company is intentionally stalling by making insulting offers to sections of our contract that aren't even industry standard. Why anyone would seek employment here is beyond me.

Prospective employees don't understand how dirtbag this management team really is. They get sucked in with the promise of a fast upgrade on a shiny new A320. What they don't tell you is there is always a new section of our contract the company decides to "reinterpret," you will be on reserve for close to a year, you likely won't upgrade with the current order book unchanged, and you won't make 6 figures in the right seat for quite a long time. Buyer beware.

In the meantime there will also be hundreds of pilots who proclaim "it's better than my regional!" So why should this incompetent management team give us any more money?

It is a joke, and people are starting to bail. I know of 2 this week (1 CA & 1 FO) that have class dates at DAL, and 90% of FO's I fly with are actively trying to leave. Hopefully the exodus picks up steam. Why anybody would come here at this point is puzzling.
