New Northwest Airlines Company, NWJ?
#1
I just recently heard that Northwest has future plans of starting up a 2nd airline. It would consist of a 50, 70, and 90 seat jet fleet. The new airline would be called Northwest Jets (NWJ). I also heard that the plan was to cut up to 70% of all its mainline flying. This makes sense if the current fleet of DC-9s will be parked in the next few years. Starting a second airline would be a way for them to keep the majority of their domestic routes flown by the Dc-9 instead of shifting all that flying to their regional carriers.
Again, I don't know how much of this is true or not. If someone has anymore insite or info on this, please let me know.
Thanks.

I have a buddy at Pinnacle who had a Northwest pilot jumpseater. He was talking about the "new" airline that Northwest was going to startup. Only a few of the pilots I have talked to have heard this.
