Will Trump overturn travel to Cuba?

Looks very possible:

Pence: Cuba executive orders will be overturned - POLITICO

Anything Obama has done, regardless if it was good or not, will be completely undone. These *******s are the same as the guys currently in office, no different. Several airlines have poured millions into the new Cuba routes. What a waste.

I have no idea why people think Cuba is going to be candyland. Having spent some time at Hemingway Marina, things are still pretty rough.

Lots of prime golf courses, casinos and hotels to be built in Cuba. He may overturn executive orders however most of the changes will stay in place.

cactusmike 11-19-2016 08:40 PM

Considering that Trump himself defied the embargo by secretly having his hotel people meet with the Cuban government back in 1998, I think that this, like most of the Trump pronouncements, will be rolled back.

From the article: "Trump administration would maintain the five decade-long trade embargo until “real religious and political freedom” comes to the communist island nation."

This from the jerkoffs that want to start a database registry of all the Muslims in America.

Which is quite ironic considering those things are what allowed Castro to come to power.

By this measure, shouldn't all China routes also be rescinded?

The same reason every LCC salivates over Hawaii and eventually Europe. Because its there.

RI830 11-19-2016 10:20 PM

One can around and around for days about Trump rescinding the routes.
Carnival Cruises and Mickey Aireson have been salivating over travel to Cuba as much as the airlines.

Cuba maintains a long standing rule that Cubans who left by boat can't return by boat. Carnival decided it would uphold that rule and prevented any knuckleheaded Cubans in Miami from being able to sail back to the mothership.

The issue with Cuba, China, Myanmar, etc.....there is 0% benefit or profit to anyone but the government by these routes. The Cuban people will remain as is witb or without the routes

They forgot to mention the time Cuba helped the USSR put nukes on our doorstep...putting the entire world closer to all-out nuclear war than it has ever been. The dopes responsible for that are still in power.

Plus equal minded dopes in other parts of the world, only the names have changed, same lunacy abounds.

Islam has been so great for the Western world, hasn't it old timer? If you and your fellow left wing travelers want to carry on with your death wish proclivities, please leave the rest of us out of it. Islam is a cancer on the freedom loving western world. It's ok to be prejudiced towards things that are bad for you. It's called "self preservation". You should look into it sometime.

You assume that the Cuban government had any say in the matter. It's quite possible that the Soviets did it without much regard to Cuban thought.

tomgoodman 11-20-2016 07:59 AM

Let all the cruise ships and tourist flights that want to visit Cuba do so! This hemisphere doesn't have enough tropical islands offering crowded streets, cheap souvenirs, and bad sunburns. :p

LOL exactly. Everyone will want to go for a little while just because of the forbidden fruit effect or whatever. At the end of the day, other than a lot of cool vintage cars, what's there that isn't anywhere else. It will settle into the travel demand of the entire region best case.

If you go back a little further, you will find US nukes in Turkey aimed at the USSR. It's always more complicated than you think.

Exactly. We got outflanked by Nikita big time. We pushed him, he responded, we backed off, then so did he. Yet its reported as this huge American victory LOL!

Jupiter missiles in Turkey were obsolete anyway.

It was. With the withdrawal of missiles in Cuba, the Russians had no nukes on our immediate doorstep. We withdrew obsolete Jupiter missiles from Turkey, yet had the Russians still surrounded by nukes based in Europe and the ME.

Which kind of dispels the notion that they were unilateral savages ready to invade every inch of the earth but for the might of the USA :roll eyes:

No one despises commies more than me. But we were far more aggressive towards them than they were to us (unless you include the internal subversion we've put up with for 2-3 generations (oh no MCCARTHYISM TRIGGER WARNING!). This continues even today. They put troops in their own country on their own border and we call that provocative, then we conduct huge exercises and stage troops near their borders, having them completely surrounded and outflanked, with 800 bases on 70 countries spending tens of times more on our military than they do on theirs, yet call relatively small increases in their military spending provocative. Please. We played war college nation building yet again by interfering with a democratically elected regime in Ukraine thinking we would whisk them into the glory of our "sphere of influence" isolating them from one of their most strategic military assets imaginable, and they finally say no and protect their interests and we go screaming HITLER! NAZI INVASION! THUG! NAZI! HITLER!

I'm not a huge fan of Putin by any means, but the global billionaire elites hate him, so that's good enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt on some things.

Well that and it is the closest tropical place to the US besides the Bahamas. Plus, they have better cigars and rum than the Bahamas. :D

You obviously haven't read or listened to what he wants to do. It has been done in the past, in the United States, legally mind you. And your whining and little protests aren't going to stop him. Go to your safe space and let the real men take care of business.

ShyGuy 11-20-2016 03:33 PM

Yeah I'm not signing up for any registry. Appreciate the offer though!

Airlines can sue trump if his repeal of this executive order costs them money. To what satisfaction I don't know.

There is zero percent chance an airline can successfully sue for someone repealing someone else's executive order. They can sue, but they won't win, and no one is worried about it.

We keep a registry of sex offenders and violent criminals!
After all, The glorious Mohammed was a pedophile.
He married a 6 yr old and consummated the "marriage" when she was 10.
Then the call for the jihad against the infidels. Sounds peaceful and consentful

This is exactly why a registry is needed. These people have an exodus from their "homelands" into Europe, Asia and the US to "want to Islamize" the countries they move to.
Look at the shat storm in Germany after they welcomed them with open arms.

Oh and let's not forget that the liberal left who supposedly hates registries want to start a registry on all gun owners. A registry for over one hundred MILLION Americans couldn't happen fast enough for the libs but try and get the name of the Muslim in a database who is trying to come into our country with little to no background checks all the while ISIL sending out literature on what to say to become a refugee.

Typical liberal logic. Let's go after those horrible gun owners who have never committed a crime in their life but act very indignant and call everyone racist if we want to know who is coming into our country.

Sex offenders and violent criminals have broken the law. Being a Muslim is not against the law, it's protected by the 1st amendment. There won't be a registry so this discussion is a moot point. Not sure how a thread about Cuba turned into a Muslim bashing but it did.
