Trump is a fixture in the NYC social scene, and probably attends a hundred such events each year. As someone pointed out, he's been quite social with the clinton clan as well.

This goes beyond social appearances. The man and his company also have a lot of money invested in that region. How can anyone know whether that will affect his decision making as President?

There's a few ways to clear the air here. Trump can follow through on his promise to release his full tax return. He could also place all of his interests into a blind trust.

Photos found on the Internet aren't proof of much beyond being in the same place at the same time. However in this case the burden of proof is on the President Elect, otherwise all of his decisions will be tainted with the possibility of greed and corruption overriding the best interests of the country and its citizens.

One things for sure, we know where the other candidates loyalties rest.

So if a $1 million gift to a charity is corrupting, then certainly multimillion dollar branding deals, golf courses, etc. must be equally if not more corrupt, right?

I'm not seeing the connection.
Private businessman's dealings to promote his brand VS Secretary of State soliciting donations?

Everybody knows it was nothing but a influence peddling scheme, the people are not stupid.

"Australia ceases multimillion-dollar donations to controversial Clinton family charities"
I wonder why, I thought it was for the children?

Clinton cash stops: Australian donations to Clinton Foundation over
OK, so if the Secretary of State taking a donation for her charity amounts to influence peddling, then we agree that money influences people's behavior. Now, how much more influence does the office of the President hold than the Secretary of State?

Would taking money from a foreign country to build a golf course not pose the potential for influence peddling?

"Don't want to allow Emirates to fly to more US destinations? Fine, guess we won't let you build that golf course or have a hotel with your brand here"

How would the loss of that business and that income affect someone's decision making?

In the case of the President Elect, how can you prove it did not affect his decision making?

As a private businessman it was fine to have those business dealings, but Trump will soon hold the highest public office in our country, he is no longer a businessman, he is a civil servant first and foremost. The burden of proof to, at a minimum, show his business dealings present no conflict of interest is his.

Until that happens, no one can prove otherwise.

The Clinton Foundations dealings appear to have been a contributing factor in disqualifying her from being worthy of holding office in your mind. Why is the incoming Administration held to a different standard?

Let's hold them to the same standard, when in office.

Perhaps EVERY politician needs to follow the same rules......

Amazing how they "enter" paupers and leave "rich"!

Bernie was on welfare when he ran..............

Just saying....!

LOL

Amazing how many people actually believe that (not saying you do).

Sanders epitomizes the hypocrisy of the now-irrelevant fringe.

Bernie Sanders now has one thing in common with the millionaires and billionaires and other 1 percenters he so frequently attacked on the campaign trail: he now owns his very own summer home.

Vermont magazine Seven Days reported Tuesday that the 74-year-old senator and his wife, Jane Sanders, have purchased a four-bedroom house on the shore of Lake Champlain for roughly $600,000. With this purchase, Sanders now owns at least three houses, the others being in Burlington, VT, and Capitol Hill in D.C.

Disclaimer: I did not vote for either option, and am not a Trump advocate.

But I think he already has enough money such that he's more interested in this new game he's playing, than using his office for personal gain.

Time will tell.
