Only a true aviation pioneer could amass a resume like that. Can you imagine have 400 airplanes in YOUR logbook? Obviously this guy was one of the premier test pilots of the last century. Fair winds...

I had the chance to hear him give a lecture at the Smithsonian back in the mid-80's and was awe struck with his stories about his experiences as a Naval Test Pilot. A true giant of a aviation.
