Greatest pilot ever from the Greatest Generation. Best ever yet such a humble guy.
I was fortunate enough to see him perform a few times. True hero.

I've seen him perform a few times over the years. Some real talent; no question.

I saw him in Reno a year or two ago. He wasn't in good shape. He was there selling his book; his autograph was eighty bucks, and I was fairly sure he wasn't signing them. I declined.

He flew well into his later years, still doing things with aircraft that many of us will never be able to do. The man didn't just live through history; he was an integral part of it. Most of us do our jobs yet seldom leave a mark. He left a lot of them, and will be well remembered.

He was such a class act. I had the privilege to meet him about 20 years ago. Humble, kind and treated everyone even better than he expected to be treated.

I really enjoyed his demo. I wish I could have thanked him in person. I read his book and watched the recent documentary about his life. A life well lived.
