So the incentive to expedite a seniority list process winds up being hollow to many of those who have been around in the industry for the past ten years or so. The seniority list will be around for a lot longer than the payscale.

BINGO! The pay could be gone tomorrow, but the seniority stays. I care about seniority, and I'll take the equity stake(although that's probably out the window:()

Your right that seniority is forever. Last week in LGA there were two Northwest pilots talking near the Comair gates. When they greated each other one asked the other what he was flying these days. He said he just bid over to the 757. The other asked how he sat on the 757 seniority wise. He replied that he was about the 50% point! He never mentioned his DOH which I found odd.

Not odd at all

Nobody goes around asking what your DOH is. Since they probably knew each other they probably already know each other's seniority. One was just wanting to find out about where in the pecking order he stood. When I ask friends where they sit on a list, I want to know if they are top, bottom, middle, etc, not when they were hired. DOH can vary greatly within a category since some bid money and others bid QOL.

Delta's plan made sense. Relative seniority is what matters.

That story is completely fabricated.

I was standing 5 feet away when the conversation took place. I would not call it fabricated. It was very real!

Relative senority works until the "F" word comes around......

There were job protections in the 2 Billion dollar package that the NWA pilots dismissed.

Fix scope. No need to furlough when large RJ's are hitting the property and even Steenland comes right out and says they are DC9 replacements.

NWA320pilot 04-01-2008 07:56 AM

Jobs protections aren't worth too much when hard times ht. Been there done that, a couple of times.

Bucking Bar 04-01-2008 08:09 AM

nevermind.... jeesh I hope this does not happen.
