Default What does this mean for poolies?

I was scheduled to go to class with NWA later this summer and got an email last week saying that they had cnxl all remaining classes for 08 after the April 7 class. It did go on to say that my offer of employment was good until April 4, 2009. But that was all last week before the big news. Do ya'll think that New Delta will honor the NWA poolies offers of employment?

Probably not. The did not honor poolies from their last round.
DAL has vastly different requirements that NWA. (Borderline ridiculous at times)
Now, I could be completely wrong. NWA's MEC could have it written in their contract or the combined contract could include you, but I would not hold my breath.

Unfornately it looks like Delta wants to run this show completely, so I wouldn't be too hopeful. Myabe I'm wrong, which I'll keep my fingers crossed is the case.

Hey NWA guys - I looked up on this site out of curiosity to see how many pilots you have on your seniority list and this is what it said:

5,156 Total
4,523 Active
188 (non i Furlough)

Can someone either explain to me what that means, or tell me how many pilots are on your list? Thanks.

Active means available to fly. The rest are on Mil Leave, long term sick, medically retired, etc. Some will be back, some won't

Never happen... Poolies will get letters withdrawing the conditional offer.

5156 is accurate as of the Jan 2008 seniority list.

First, anything said here would be conjecture......so take everything with a grain of salt. Second, perhaps a NWA pilot can explain this better, but NWA has look back block hour limits which will require hiring of 200 pilots before the end of the year just to be in compliance with the current contract. Third, when NWA pilots are brought up to DAL work rules it will require an additional 400 pilots. Fourth, after close it will be quite some time before the two airlines operate under the same certificate, so the additional pilots required for the NWA system will likely flow through the NWA employment office as they will have to be trained by NWA to meet the requirements of the NWA certificate. Fifth and maybe most important, there is historical precedence for my fourth point. When Delta acquired Western both companies embarked on a massive hiring program. Western continued to hire for over a year after the merger closed using Western standards.

I think there is an excellent chance you will be in class before Christmas.

Maybe maybe not. Hope they do hire though.
