Default No changes to NWA reserve work rules?

Why is it that NWA work rules for reserves will live as long as the NWA certificate does? Parity, yeah right.

Rotorhead, The TA has not been posted yet. I don't know where you got your information. I suspect however this is your first merger. In any merger it takes time to phase in new computer systems and work rules. The transition period is always interesting. Usually there is a period of 60 to 90 days where the computer systems overlap. Can make for some interesting situations when they don't agree. Some things can be done right away and others take more time. Not everything can be accomplished or done on day one. I am confused however because in a discussion on this or the national forum the NWA pilots felt their reserve system was better. Why would you want to go to our system sooner?

Vote "no" then. That would be just fine.

Sailing fun:

I like DAL's hard lines better than PBS reserve bidding. I understand we are going towards PBS for reserves.

DAL is planning the transition to PBS bidding for reserve lines in the fall. Most DAL pilots are looking forward to the change. The system looks like it is going to be a good one. I am sure there will be problems at first that have to be worked out however it should be online well before they combine scheduling systems. I would expect that even if the company meets their merger timeline you won't see a attempt at a crew scheduling integration until next fall of 09.

Ugh. PBS for reserves hasn't worked all that well at NWA. Lots of clamoring for a return to hard lines for Reserve guys. I've heard lots of guys bidding for nothing more than a single particular day off (not a holiday, just a day... wife's/son's birthday, beer on the lake day, etc) and not being able to get it. Of course, it's all in the implementation. Good luck and tight contract language to you if you guys go this way.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum at NWA. I bid reserve by choice because as a relatively senior reserve bidder, I have a lot more control of my days off with the pbs than if I were a more junior block holder. Once you figure out how to "sharpshoot" the system a little bit, it can work for you. Where you stand on the list has a lot to do with it as well. It has worked out great for me. I've found I have much more flexibility than when we were bidding hard lines. I think it also gives you a little more flexibility when it comes to trading days off after the schedule comes out since everyone is not lined up in the same hard lines as before. I'm just posting this to show that "not everyone" hates the pbs for reserves. I for one am pretty happy with it.

Thats good for all of us fins, both sides have bunches of "old guys". Once the movement starts we will all be moving up the worlds largest airlines seniority list quick. Cheers to that. F4 guys make great DC9 pilots
