Default Delta wins first post merger battle

On Sunday the JFK based NY J-E-T-S soundly defeated the (formerly) Memphis based Tenn Titans. It's time we started arguing about something important like sports. Just think of the possibilities. Vikes vs Falcons, Bengals vs Lions (ok that one will stink) Raiders or Rams vs Seahawks, even the Red Wings vs the Thrashers. The other option is to argue over who has the better looking FAs.... (sound of crickets....)

As a Bengal fan, I can say without falsehood or malice, that the Bengals would lose against Xavier this year. And I mean Xavier High School - Cincinnati, not Xavier University.

Wait, shouldn't the Jets be claimed by Continental since they play in NJ and not too far from EWR. I think Delta can only claim the Falcons, the Bengals, and the Los Angeles Lions.

Yeah you didn't hear. That was part of the Merger deal. The Lions have to move to LA. Detroit will be getting in return as an equalizer. An expansion team made up entirely of future Delta New Hire Pilots that would actually have a chance in winning a game. It is part of the no Furlough clause. They will be called the Detroit Deltoids.

I think that Delta's combine presence in JFK, LGA, and EWR (our NY guys cover all three airports) trumps CALs EWR base. CAL pulled out of JFK with their tail between the legs leaving the entire NY area under the firm control of the Red Widget. The Blue pithy sayings on those foreign jets notwithstanding.

As for the DTW expansion team, you are stuck with the Lions, not unlike the DC 9s. But trade rumors abound. I have already dripped to the family that cold wx can be a good thing and that housing prices in DTW are REALLY CHEAP!

Yeah, I think the NWA side of the NHL would dominate the DAL side - Wild, Wings, and Preds (close enough) vs. Thrashers, Rangers, and Kings. NWA hands down.

Rangers, Islanders, Devils, and if we expand the degrees of freedom we could go with Lighting (close to Orlando, former Delta base) and Stars (former Delta base).

That's stretching it a bit, don't you think? Former bases, three NY teams? I guess you'll try anything to win...

Yeah Yeah go Stars! (I live in DFW), except they are in the last place in the west so far this year.

BUT.........they used to be the Minnesota North Stars, so we get them when they're good
