Continental/United reportedly in merger talks

Yea, that is if you believe in the "unnamed sources". Anyone can make stuff up and the media will print anything. I'll believe it when I'm furloughed from Unental or Canited. Personally, I'm still hoping to be on our own at CAL.

Do any of you UAL guys remember 10 years ago when we announced the USAIR merger? About a month before that announcement was made UAL made the news that it was in serious merger talks with America West.
Me thinks I see a pattern here.

CA and UA will merge, during this aa will get involved. the result will be the disection of US by AA and CA. CA gets the west and AA gets the east of US Air. It will be an asset sale. in the end CA/UA with part od US and AA with part of US. Every stockholder will be happy except the employees.

Wasn't there a theory that the AWA deal was leaked thereby killing it?

But that was back in the days when I was a line holding 777 F/O just trying to figure out what to do with my spare time and money and didn't pay to much attention to all that silly merger stuff.
