Default How long should I plan on being in PHX?

So I’m a new hire starting here shortly on the CRJ. I remember being told since I live in the Dallas area that they would probably send me back here for the CTP course and maybe for the sim sessions. Looking at the hotel resveration I’ve got the room for what looks like 4 months. So my question is this, should I expect to spend up to 4 months in PHX? And if not if anybody had a training schedule similar to this about how much back and forth between Dallas and PHX did you do?

Long story short. Expect quick change and last second changes and you will be ok.

You will spend a short amount of time in Dallas for CTP. Then, everything else is in Phoenix - plan on close to 4 months.

You will have short breaks that you can run home, and possibly a long break after ground school and before SIMs depending on if they are backed up.

Enjoy Phoenix! Take in as many Spring Training Games as possible.

Start studying for the ATM(formally ATP) written NOW! That CTP class is almost a waste of time and won't do anything to help you with the exam. They provide sheppardair , but I recommend purchasing it now to get a jump start. The test is quite a bit harder now.

I start training on Nov. 1. Same hotel res and also live in Dfw. Hope to get back to the family on breaks as much as possible.

When do we get the shepherd study guide? Day one?

Looking forward to the process!

Do we get travel benefits right away? That would be helpful for going home on weekends.

- Indoc: 10 days in PHX
- Spend a day traveling to DFW for CTP
- CTP course for me started on Monday, take the written the following Monday. Try and stay awake for the ground school during CTP, don’t sweat the CTP Test they are required to give, the instructors will make sure you’re good to go. Enjoy the sim sessions, they’re fun.
- I got about 2 weeks until I start systems back in PHX, so I’ll head home for the break.

Hope this helps! I’m ERJ btw, so I’m expecting to have longer breaks in between the steps in training due to the back up in sim scheduling. The CRJ guys are moving through training pretty quickly

Travel benefits aren’t granted until 15 days after DOH.

Good thing for the CRJ guys is you get travel benefits on American and United. The instructors will show you how to list yourself and everything if you ask.

Note: Yearly charges for travel benefits that restart every calendar year, so unless you’re planning on taking your family somewhere, I would only sign up for yourself until next January

You’ll get an email when you’re signed up for the CTP course. Follow the instructions on the email and download the Sheppard app to your iPad. Can’t remember exactly when I got it, but it was a few days before I showed up in PHX

After Indoc, there will be breaks to head home. As long as you study SheppardAir and can still make it to ATP, you can spend your nights at home. You need to take your ATP written pretty soon after CTP.
