Hoping I made the right choice...?

Hello, been lurking around the Mesa threads for awhile. Had CJO’s from Mesa and XJT, initially chose XJT but then decided Mesa would be a better fit. Ex military currently living in Honolulu but am from the DC area so leaving Hawaii to come back home to fly was what put Mesa over the top. Starting indoc on the 28th and was guaranteed the 700 out of IAD. Was told that IAD is hurting for FO’s and that I would be able to hold a line immediately and crediting 90hrs a month with no reserve and unlimited ability to pick up open time @200-300%. Along with expected upgrade times between 12-16 months and a high probability of upgrading to CA at IAD as well. Can anyone (preferably@IAD) confirm what Aaron and Marcin have told me? Has the training situation improved? Just want to make sure I’m making the right choice for myself and my family, thanks.

I’m at IAD now. All of that is true. The only issues are:

-There is some uncertainty about the long-term future of the base.

-IAD is not a junior captain base, it will take a while longer to hold than DFW or SDF.

If you want to fly, there is probably no better place to go right now. Seriously. For November I will credit 110 hours without picking up any trips. All the FOs I know were scheduled for 90+ block this month.

You mean the uncertainty coming this August?

When and how will we know about the renewal (or not) of the CPA?

The renewal or lack thereof will be in the Mesa quarterly filing to the SEC. For Mesa, a cancellation of the CPA is not something they can keep secret from stockholders for very long without lawsuits. Mesa being a public company has its benefits. JO can only mask the truth to an extent.

PHX Base

What are the chances of getting PHX on the CRJ once you finish training?

How long is upgrade at PHX?

Right now:
It looks like FO’s are making it back to PHX once their 3 month lock is finished after IOE. A CA upgrade in PHX is as soon as you have 1,000 121 time and 2 CA recommendations.

Future:
Until the CRJ700 situation is known, it is difficult to recommend that anyone come to Mesa on the CRJ. Later in 2019, we may start seeing a whole bunch of displacements. The good thing is Mesa might actual have adequate reserves for the existing CRJ bases. On the other hand, you will get the CL65 rating behind you and everyone needs CRJ pilots. I expect we will hear United’s plans in the first quarter of next year.

For now, I recommend SkyWest or Compass if you must have PHX. Compass doesn’t seem to be returning applicants’ calls though and they have discontinued their rotor program.

Your mileage may vary. This changes all the time and doesn't consider the 3 month base lock wherever you might be initially assigned - if that's still in effect.

Current hire date of most JR FO in PHX = 07-27-2018
Most Jr Line Holder = 06-29-2018

Most Jr Captain in PHX = 06-30-2017
The one just above him is 03-31-2017

Most Jr Line Holder CA PHX = 03-31-2016

Can anyone on the CRJ side tell me about the training schedule? After Indoc/CTP how long do we have to complete the ATP written and will ground school start the following week after indoc? Also, are there any breaks in training prior to starting ground school or is that just on the ERJ side? I’ve been waiting on a reply from Charles and/or Aaron but its been almost two weeks. I’m completely prepared to spend the next 90 days in Phoenix if needed but am just curious.
