Mesa Current Contract

For those of you who worked at Mesa when their current contract was passed were those FO and Captain pay rates around the industry average back in 2017?

I can’t imagine the pilots would have voted in less than industry pay rates at that time. Thanks for the info. Envoy first year FOs now make $50/ hr first year.

Stockholm Syndrome. I left before the current contract. Plenty of really good pilots at Mesa. You can only beat a dog so much before permanently damaging their will to resist. $50 hr first year is still **** pay. Airline pilot, even first year should be a six figure income. So don't act like Envoy is good, they aren't.

A group of our representatives managed to convince the less seasoned and unfortunately narrow majority they would be downgraded or furloughed if the didn't agree to allow Mesa to continue to work on a 3% profit margin

It got us close within a couple of bucks then literally every other regional got raises again now we are at the bottom. JO wanted to get that contract done before the company went public and he had money in the bank.

I see. That gives me hope on the next contract negotiations then that the pilot group wouldn’t except less than industry standards if I’m still here 2 years from now.

Well I wouldn’t count on it JO is on his second attempt to buy a foreign airline and now this freight thing he’s going to run the well dry so they can argue they have no money.

Yeah, I’ve seen where he tried to buy Flybe earlier this year but it fell through. Personally, I would never buy the argument that he doesn’t have the money to pay us industry wages. I would walk away from the table at that point until he gives in. If Mesa can’t afford to pay up they can sell to another company who does pay industry rates and can afford it. I would never vote in favor of a contract that doesn’t pay industry rates.

I really feel bad for the Mesa Captians they’re making $15,000-25,000/yr less than Endeavor, Republic, PSA, Piedmont, Compass, SkyWest, and now Envoy. For doing the same work.

Why would you expect more in the next contract? Just a little over 2 years ago we showed management we’ll accept less than average. I unfortunately have no doubt if the next TA offers less than average again, the pilots will accept it because they’d rather have more money now than even more money later.

There will probably be a recession next time too, so the group kind of blew its chance.

With your current MEC Chair expect status quo
Too close with your ex MEC Chair and current VP of flight ops
Lots of talk behind close doors what they should put on the table and pass it before the Neg Com ever see it
