I was dumb - fresh out of college - didn't know anything about the industry. They called first. But upgrade times certainly weren't 8 years then like they are now.

Was from Indianapolis - living in Indianapolis. RAH's presence is huge there. HQ, and all certs had an IND base.

You still need 1000 hrs 121 and captain recommendations.

And Captain recommendations?

How exactly does that work?

Thanks.

Well.... You ask a captain and they submit a rec letter for you. All of this is done online. You dont even need to submit it yourself. The captain has that option

Need to clarify something here. Ready reserve bidding is actually assigned out based on when you bid. Not seniority

Like I said Scotty, ready reserve is only assigned about 2 days out. If you bid for it, they have a record of that. If you are available for a ready reserve assignment on the days you bid for it and no one senior to you bid that same shift then they will assign it to you...about 2 days out. Also...if no one bid for a ready reserve shift on any given day and you are the most junior available FO, then you will get assigned it whether you bid for it or not.

RS3 means you were awarded the afternoon regular reserve shift. RS1 means you have been awarded the morning shift. As a reserve pilot that is all you will see until they assign ready reserve or flying.

Contract says it is awarded in the same fashion as open time. During SAP, open time is awarded by seniority. After SAP, it is awarded by first come first serve. You cannot bid for ready reserve after SAP, so it follows that ready is awarded in seniority order during SAP.

It was also explained to me this way by crew line adjustments when I tried to pick up ready shifts after SAP was closed a few months ago.

Check gs-25 at the end of the contract. It's the result of a grievance

First come first served it is...or at least should be
