No one is saying Mesa is the best place to work. It's a place to get in and get out, which anyone (except 24/48) reading this forum hasn't done yet. Our medical sucks, our pay sucks, but we have good bases, don't really get screwed with by the company, short reserve times (right now), decent schedules, and the pilot group is pretty good.
Why else are many of our new hires here from other regionals starting over?
What you see is what you get. I'd rather live in Phx/IAH/dfw and get paid a couple bucks per hour less and not commute to the east coast, dtw, msp, etc. I have other income. But at the end of the day, our total 3-5 year pay isn't far off of any other regional. And you shouldn't be here longer than that.

I don't disagree with the rest, but pay difference IS significant.

Having been at both airlines, there is no comparison whatsoever! From the low pay, low per diem, incorrect paychecks, and crooked management that will screw you anyway possible Mesa sucks way more than Skywest! Skywest is not perfect by any means, but is so much better in just about every way. The only thing I miss about Mesa are the people I worked with, they were awesome.

I wonder where they are going to put them? Dallas is down 10 gates at the regional terminal right now and it is pure chaos most days. They have the 900s down in the old ATR gates that is a bit of a one way alley.
Does Mesa get paid taxi time? It seems they are awfully mad when they get sent to the hold pad for an hour. I just pull out a book and listen to the cha Ching!
But seriously, I just don't see how they are going to fit it all, even with the gates reopening after Reno. They still have almost 2 years to go on the total Reno plan too.

I have seen a couple of posts in the mesa thread talking about Mesa being awarded flying for 7 CRJ 900s but that they still needed to find the aircraft. Supposedly a previous attempt at purchasing some used aircraft had fallen through. I'm not sure if I have stories mixed up, but if I don't wouldn't this just be orders for the 7 aircraft needed for that already awarded flying?
