Default Rotor ATP

Has anyone successfully obtained an add-on ATP certificate, based upon military flying?

We should all have accomplished the mil comp conversion to get a commercial, however what I'm asking, has anyone, who already holds an airplane ATP, used the military aircraft to obtain an FAA (rotor)ATP?

I'm an Army Guard guy, and 95-1 says we can, in that it's not used solely for FAA certificate. In other words, I can't use an AFTP to go out and to the practical test for the FAA. In conjunction with APART... maybe, as long as SAO signs off on it.

Anyone know if this has been done?

Is the IP/SP/IE who would give your APART/inst ride that you would try to dual purpose as an ATP ride also a DPE/Fed?

Back when I was in, you could get approval for an ASI to ride shotgun and observe an APART. Another was around it is to find a Guard pilot who is an ASI. You might try to contact the FAA r/w folks at Ft Worth-Alliance. They know all the ASIs who cycle through there for their currency flying and probably know who is still in the reserve component.

None of our IP's are ASI's. This idea would have off-the-street ASI's sitting in the back observing an APART essentially. (Of course waiver for doing EP's with pax(?))

It's far fetched for sure.

I don't need a rotor ATP for civilian life; it would be a cool add-on.

I appreciate the input.

I know folks that have done it... I don't know the specifics, but I do know that with out a unit or green-suiter examiner, it'll force you to look into NGR 95-5.
If you're in good graces with the SAO and they are supportive, you can reach out to NGB for approval and expect it.

My unit has had several people complete their ATP checkride in an Army aircraft. It was in the Lakota. We have yet to find a check airman that is 60 qualed to be able to accomplish this now that we have gotten rid of the Lakotas. It requires a memorandum from your O6 commander authorizing the check airman to fly in the aircraft. Our BDE SP gave a checkride to one of our PCs and the DPE rode in the back and signed both off when they were done, I believe.
