Default Tricare For Life Pharmacy Copay

I just discovered that the Tricare For Life pharmacy copays just went from $0 to $7 for generic medications. Not the end of the world (at least for me) but it is probably the start of death by a thousand cuts. This is not what I was promised.
For a lot of retirees with major health issues that are living on a fixed income, this could have a major impact.

Tricare Prime Office co-pays went from $12 to $30. I still try to get a majority of my scripts from the local MTF.

My wife is on Tricare Standard as her secondary with FedEx Retiree High Deductible as primary. The copay on her allergy shots just went from $1.36 to $7.15. It is now considered an office visit so the copay equals the allowed amount. Again, not a big deal, but not what I signed up for.

You are retired mil and FedEx.

Not going to get any sympathy here.

Yes I know it's "not what you signed up for". Crap happens.

You have it better than 99.999% of the world. Get over it.

BTW I am in similar circumstances but I choose to not complain about petty stuff. life is too short.

Unfortunately, none of us really "signed up" for anything. There was never any sort of contract for pay or benefits, you basically get whatever Congress authorizes at any particular point in time.

Don't read too much into what transpired in the past, its not relevant. If the economy tanks bad and/or the Fed bloats to the point that it struggles to pay all the unearned welfare entitlements, you can expect your pension to get cut... perhaps down to basic social security.

This is why voting matters. For real...

Default Bwahahaha

“Promised” That is funny. A government “promise.” There is no such thing.

I completely agree. Our national debt is nearly $21 trillion. Social Security and Medicare are growing massively. I think our pensions will eventually be means tested.

Lets hope not. Free phones, free heat, subsized housing, food stamps, earned income credit which means people get back 4K in federal dollars at tax time when they only paid in 1K (who in the heck thought was a good idea?), people scamming social security disability, and they want to means tests military retirees? Once again, lets hope not.

Plan for it so it won’t surprise you when it happens.
