Default Non pilot veteran vs pilot veteran app.

I’m a navy veteran A&P mechanic turned flight instructor who now flies for a 121 carrier I plan on apply to a major once I have the time.

How are non flying aviation veterans ranked in the interview /resume process?

Kind of like ex USAF WSOs. Or to quote SWA:

Only time in a fixed wing aircraft is counted, this specifically excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV,EWO and UAV.

I would say use your non comm leadership, instructing, upgrading, team leading, team building, specialization, volunteerism, mentoring, etc- the same as any resume.

There will likely be most all you need for an app but the TPIC. Once you have that, you should be all set.

Veteran status (non-pilot, including backseater) will get you a tiny bit of preference since they know you can work in a organization, and will show up on time, shirt pressed, with a clean shave. For the most part you're like any other civilian-track pilot.

Thanks I should have used the word “ preference “ In my question.

I was enlisted aircrew. I didn't feel my military service helped me get an interview, but I think it helped in the interview. Bring your awards and decs to an interview.
