Gi Bill
Looking to finally put mine to use when I get back from a 90 day TDY. I have some questions that you guys might know more about than me if we have any experts On here.
First, I’m in the air National Guard and have the MGIB-SR with kicker. I also qualify for the post 9/11 GI bill as I’ve done 90 days active duty from past deployments. My question is, is there a way to actually see my percentage of post 9/11 or an email I can contact the VA and find out? I know from the VA web site it says under the MGIB-SR benefits are paid at 60% of approved flight cost for ratings.
I also know that the post 9/11 goes off how much AD time you’ve done and since I have days that might or might not qualify I’d like to find out before making a decision. I also don’t plan to attend a university for training so BAH would be a mute point.
I also know that post 9/11 is based on academic year which would run August to May, whereas MGIB-SR seems like it doesn’t have that restriction, meaning I could knock out Private in 2 months, then move straight into, instrument, etc without waiting on academic year. Just curious if anyone knows more than I do and could answer some questions other than saying it’s a waste of benefits.

You can check your benefits on the VA website. Its pretty easy to navigate. I used my post 9/11 for a type rating and it was a easy process.

Flight Safety has aircraft specific prices for use with the GI Bill. I believe the max amount the GI Bill will pay is $12,500. I did the BE300 at FSI and I was out of pocket $2500. VA Education Benefits - Aircraft Specific Approved Courses.pdf
