That's what prompted the question... if I had logged all my night/nvg as actual, I'd be over 250 right now actual and sim time, but as it is I am not.

I agree with Hacker. SWA asked the question...Delta looked at it...UPS asked the question...it seems they have impression they care.

O-tay - sorry for the bad info. Mr. J. Daniels was helping me with my post - maybe I should avoid that in the future.

No worries dude, J. and I go a waaayyyyy back. Especially when you find yourself in Oki/Japan/Korea with nothing better to do than play crud at the club and then somehow get the bright idea to see if you can find the bottom of the bottle all by yourself, all the while watching some movie everybody on deployment has already seen 10 times (the same one that when you get home your wife won't get passed 15-20 minutes of it).

Just my 2 cents but the FARs say, " A person may log instrument time only for that flight time when the person operates the aircraft solely by reference to instruments under actual or simulated instrument flight conditions." so if I flew on a pitch black night and primarily used the hud to fly then I logged instrument time on the goggles, if it was a bright night and I didn't need the hud/instr to fly, then I didn't log the time.

Hmm, then with me being a hud cripple, I could have logged almost all my time as instrument time, except for maybe defensive BFM.

If you asked about 69% of my AT-38 students, they'd probably go to great lengths to prove to you that flying defensive BFM while staring at the HUD is a perfectly valid technique.

LOL, well, yes, except for the few times I got a chance to fight some Eagles. You guys don't do too well one circle against a Hornet.
