is this a conversion for only fighter guys or any mil time (i.e. tankers etc)?

Should be for all military types, due to the difference in how time is logged in the military (brake release to landing +5) and elsewhere (from the time the airplane moves under its own power to shutdown).

i wish our wing would log time that way. we start the clock when wheels are off the ground and it ends when we touchdown.

brake release to landing +5 would give me another .3/sortie. that would be nice.

Hmm, so the takeoff roll plus 5 minutes = .3? .3 as in 18 minutes? I dunno where you're flying from that you need a 13 minute takeoff roll, but that must be one hell of a runway!

That's just how long those slugs take to accelerate! ;)

BTW - 0.3 is half of an F-22 BFM sortie and that's no sh*t! Standard is about 0.6 for BFM to burn approx 15K of JP-8. Pretty sick huh??

i thought you were talking about brake release out of the chalks (which would include taxi to approach end).

As far as I know, ALL Air Force time is wheels up to wheels down + 5 minutes. But what do I know...

Ahhh...no I was talking about the brake release that happens right after "winds 230 at 10, cleared for takeoff, contact departure."

btw, notwithstanding majcom guidance, ref is afi 11-401, pg 92.

"The takeoff time is when the aircraft begins to move forward on takeoff roll."

"The landing is when the aircraft is on the ground after being airborne and any of the following conditions occur: (a) The engines are stopped and shutdown occurs at or before five minutes after touchdown. (b) The aircraft has been on the ground for five minutes after touchdown; however, a series of practice landings is considered one flight. (c) A change is made in the crew where a crewmember enplanes or deplanes."

...the addition of 5 min is debated by some.

Never in my AF career have I heard the 5 min taxi time debated. Which doesn't mean anything. I could maybe see it if a unit were short on flying hours but I'd still call BS.

Then again, never have I seen anyone think even remotely that counting time from brake release happens in the chocks.
