GS Flying Jobs Info??
 

Greetings.......Approaching 20 years in the NAV and was wondering if anyone has any insight to what GS flying jobs are out there for a retired guy?

Technician jobs are out because I can't affiliate....unless anyone knows a different way or a way around the retirement loop hole?

Any DAC opportunities coming available (East Coast)?

Looking at all possibilites for flying after the NAV.

How much time are you getting as a station pilot now?

I know of at least one retired AF guy who came back to a TR job. Unit needed the bodies, which is not necessarily the case now, it did involve some paperwork. How much, I don't know. But, on the days he was working for the unit, he didn't receive his retirement pay to avoid the whole dual comp issue.

If you are that interested in an ART job somewhere, I'd bug the HQ weenies and see if it could be done.

DAC = Department of the Army Civilian, is that what you're talking about? Unless you're a helo guy, there aren't many opportunities.

Real hard to retire from the navy under under 40...unless you were some kind of child prodigy.

Not really...say a dude enlisted at 18, then got his degree at night while on active duty, then got commissioned. He can retire at 38. Happens all the time.

Can you work as a DAC at a reserve ASF if you are collecting a military retirement? I am in that boat in the near future and wouldn't mind doing this if I could find something like this in the area of the upper midwest.

I know Mother Rucker has some jobs like this but I am not wanting to move to LA. Thoughts?

I'm retiring in a few months also.

Stupid question but are you looking at the airlines? They seem to like guys with a good history of flying.

If you're looking for something else, you might want to look into the civilian guys who fly military students in training. I'm sure the company has changed names since I was in flight school but I think "Dynacorp" hired retired pilots to fly student NFO's in P-cola. Maybe do a google search.

Also, the Army GS system is called "CPOL". You can do a google search to find the site and search for jobs. Occasionally they have a GS pilot job, but I've heard they tend to hire internally. You can do a geographic search which is nice if you're interested in location.

Check out APTAP.org There are a few GS / DAC aviators posting on the forum and they put up the jobs for their organizations when they come open. Also, they may have have insight to other organizations.

USASOC has an aviation detachment at Bragg in NC with GS positions.

Don't let anyone knock Rucker. I had to go back to appreciate how nice the area really is. Friendly community, low cost of living, all the "any town USA" creature comforts and close to Atlanta, Savannah, Orlando and the white sandy beachs on the gulf. (I'm from the northern rockies and I'm giving gold stars to LA, geez.)
