I know the Army has warrant officers that fly but I thought the Navy/Marine Corps required a commissioned officer to go to flight school--?

I know they did do it in the Vietnam era but thought that was stopped in the 80's.
It is all flight time accumulated in the back.

That is a great program too. A good friend of mine got selected for the flying warrant officer program and he will be flying the E-6 Mercury (Navy's version of the B707). What a deal!

Unfortunatley- tried to go that route and I would have been a prime candidate...but one year over the age cutoff.

Yeah- the P3 is being replaced by the 737. Im not sure how they are going to transition the pilots. I've heard that a lot of P3 pilots will not be changing over...but it is all rumors. Who knows what will happen. It would be a good deal to get that slot- automatic 737 type rating for free.
