I'm a retired Delta MSY B-727 pilot who has had an Agent Orange medical claim denied by the VA because even though I landed a C-130 in SVN many times, I was "never based there", so I couldn't have been there! Ya gotta love these people!
Can anyone give me some direction on how to get a copy of my Flying History report..the old Form 5..to help me support my claim.
Good luck to all of you in your careers!!

I don't know, but I have to wonder if the military even keeps copies of old flying records like that.
I was trying to get ahold of some flight reports from the USAF circa late 1970s for a Masters Paper, and they referred me to the National Archives -- that's where they'd sent all that info.
The archives has an official process to inquire into personal military records, so that may be an option.

I once had a non-lawyer job that had me working with the Library of Congress. Those people are dedicated and good. Very helpful, too. Perhaps you could try someone there? If they don't know, they'll know who knows, if you know what I mean.

If you can't track down your actual flight records, you might be able to make a case based on your squadron's location and typical missions.
Your service records should show where you based (Thailand, PI, or Guam?)
You could probably find records showing that your squadron was tasked with supporting operations in vietnam, and did so extensively.
Also, your pay records might show hazardous duty/combat zone pay or per diem for overnights. If you don't have them, it might be easier to obtain your pay records from DFAS than to try to track down your flight logs.
If that doesn't work, check with a lawyer.

The Military Records center is near St. Louis. I don't remember the exact name of it. However we were able to retrieve required service records for my grandfather, who was a Merchant Marine during WWII so he could be buried in Jefferson Barracks. If they have records dating back to then, they might be able to help you.

Tom; Also a former MSY DAL pilot. Glad you're still with us. I also flew C-130's from Barbers Pt. into and out of Viet Nam, in VR-21. We always kept log books. Here is a place you might start. Remember Smitty, Wishbone, Twiggy, Marlin Bounds and Bob Wilson? Bonne Chance !!
