Air Force "Leadership"

The real issue I think most of us have is this: we work our a$$es off deploying, flying down range, long days either working on airplanes or flying them, etc... Then you get done busting your hump fighting a real war, get home, and get called out for wearing the wrong color of shirt underneath your bag. Or you get yelled at down range because you haven't tucked in your PT shirt after flying a 20 hour day into multiple hot spots. There are people that forget the big picture and concentrate on the stuff that doesn't matter. I just read the following in a WWII history book and find it more than appropriate for here, they called it chickensh!t back then, or generating maximum anxiety over matters of minimum significance, an insistence on the letter rather than the spirit of the ordinances. Anyway, I am just a pawn in this game, so take it for what it is worth.
BTW, just an aside, they just repainted the water tower on my base again. They covered the new AF origami looking symbol with the old Hap Arnold Star symbol. The more things change, the more they stay the same right? Wonder how much it cost, and when they'll paint it again?

Just found my blues tucked away in the closet...crash diet this week to fit into them again.

I keep 'em at the ready.
Maintenance groups, squadrons and their leadership are notorious of dragging in entire units on the weekends in their blues when someone screws up downtown and there is alcohol involved. Any little snag it seems like these days and you're in your blues standing tall on the carpet.
Most maintainers (including myself) feel like a soup samich in their blues anyway.

Don't get all spooled up over this wearing blues thing...it comes about every 4-5 years, mainly because some folks (especially aircrew) don't have a set of blues they can wear on a moments notice. That is, as we all know, a basic responsibilty of an officer. (You gotta have a mess dress, too--mine shrank sitting in the closet!!! Not the length of the pants, mind you, but only the waist. Strange. But I digress...)
The point was made to me when I was made a flight cc. The sqdn cc asked if I had a set of blues I could put on in 30 minutes. I guess the blank look on my face told him no. He reminded me if their was an accident that I would go with them, in blues, to officially notify the new widow. And that was in peacetime. I went out and fixed up my uniform that day, and never let it "lapse."
It'll last about 6 months (maybe) and then wither on the vine.

You going to give up flying Vipers just because you have to wear blues on monday? Seriously? Then you're heart must not be in it that much. This is not a big deal. Give it three weeks and it'll be old news. So...when you quit the AF because you had to wear blues, what job are you going to get? What will THEY make you wear?
