Thanks dude. I'll be at Columbus. Not wild about Columbus, but I'm so excited to start doing some fun flying again. I just knew I had to get it out of my system while I could. I'm really starting to think about the U2 also. We'll see though. I've got at least 2 years before I need to start thinking about that unless someone can think of something I need to start doing now if I would like to do that?

While he is at Columbus, he can go get a ride in the T-45's down the street.
Then he can do an interservice transfer.

Not sure yet. Haven't gotten my dates. Hopefully soon though. I bet San Antonio is going to be so hot compared to Columbus. Thank god for ac in the t6.
Wasn't really surprised considering every reservist I talked to in the T-1 Squadron told me I was crazy if I didn't faip T-1's considering which way I saw my career going and I definitely had my fair share of IP's asking me what the hell I was thinking picking a T-6 over a T-1, C-21 to Ramstein, C-17 to Hickam, and KC-10 to Mcguire/Travis which were in our drop.
Ultimately I just realized I would enjoy the T6 the most and get the most satisfaction from teaching Phase II and if I'm going to spend 3 years of my life doing something I might as well enjoy it. Like someone said earlier if you enjoy your job you're going to do better at it. I just never got the yanking and banking out of my system and hope this will help me get rid of it and in 3 years I'll be ready to fly something heavy and see the world. We'll see though...![Smile](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Sorry dude, but the first jet I'm getting a ride in is a 38. Don't get me wrong the T-45 is pretty sweet, but you don't even have blowers on it. That definitely takes cool points away from it. But seriously I would love to get a ride in one.

Have a great time in T-6s and enjoy the teaching the students. Remember to talk to them outside of the brief/debrief and give them some mentorship outside of the cockpit too (meaning on things other than flying too). Since I'm unfamiliar with your UPT terms though - what training is done in Phase II?

I think the T-38 is one sweet looking machine don't get me wrong - but if you want to talk cool points - sit up high in a A-4 and get a tailhook (capable of something other than a field trap) and then we'll talk cool ![Big Grin](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I think part of it too is quality of life as we get a little older. I'm a tailhooker and just turned down T-45's in Meridian for T-6's in P-cola. If the Navy had offered me T-6's out of San Antonio, I would have been there in a heartbeat. Though I flew thunder pigs so anything small and maueverable is fun in my book.

Bunk,
Since you are already in VT-6, don't blame you a bit. Only real advantage is if you wanted some traps during daytime, calm, VFR only <g>
