Default what? no RC-12 discussion going on?

Or did I miss it (I've been away from the board for a while)

The RC-12 announcement and call for volunteers came out a few weeks (a month?) ago. Just wondering if anyone had any good poop on the thing, or stories of what's going on in your units. Anyone volunteering? Or getting sucked-in via non vol?

Anyone? Beuller....?

The squadron I just left volun-told a brand new AC he was going. Sounds good, glad I am off AD.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind flying the RC-12. If I were single I'd volunteer for it right now. Believe it or not, King-Air's are great airplanes, slower than frozen snot, but great airplanes. I just don't like the idea of a 179 TDY right after training and I don't like the idea of this possibly becoming my new MWS or god forbid, Big-Blue realizes you've got the recce stench on ya and sends you to RJ, AWACS, or the like after this "good deal". Too many unknowns...

AFPC already trying to sell it to a couple as a good deal because it will be join spouse. Amazing they thought that would actually work.

The CAF is a disaster right now. I'm a Bone driver on an ALO tour that just got involuntarily extended a year to make it a three year non-flying gig as a mid-level Captain. Bull**** if you ask me. The Bone community is in disarray with its abysmal MC rates so it's not even worth going back to. I aggressively pursued the RC-12 and I found out yesterday I got it. I'm not in the initial few classes (not an MWS IP) of guys who will comprise initial cadre, but have been told to expect training early summer.

To say I'm excited would be an understatement. This will be a ****-load of flying; exactly what I'm looking for...in a growth industry. I'm told Beale will be a base, but the environmental impact study isn't complete. I've also heard Hurlburt as a PCS option. I haven't heard anything about Cannon...I'd like to avoid Clovis.

Questions/comments?

Congrats dude, I think it'll be welcome relief from the sounds of it. Good Luck

Default The Real RC-12

I got all excited there for a moment that someone was talking about the real RC-12.

Since you all are taking our business now I guess you wouldn't mind us taking the entire C-27 program... and maybe the A-10s and C-130s too.

Funny, I didn't realize it was causing such a stir. Nothing more than a little eye candy, just the roles are reversed from what you guys are used to.
