Default Question about the A F O Q T

For you guys who have recently taken the AFOQT, did you find that any of the vocabulary words in various study guides showed up on the actual test? Also, what about math problems??? I know they won't be the "exact" problems right down to the numbers, but as far as the type of problems were they pretty close or what? Thanks.

"What Book/Study guide did you use?" Also the pilot/nav. section of the test, was it real demanding or was it on an private pilot comprehension level ?

Default A F O Q T

Although it's been a number of years...(21 years to be exact ), I remember the test as being similar to that of the SAT. The math section is mostly geometry and trig, I believe. Also, if you are familiar with "wiring diagrams" that would be a good thing to study for. I qualified for Engineer, but not Pilot or Navigator. Go figure!!!!

In 1991, I took the OSB and found that the study guide helped quite a bit. The study guide info seemed to be more difficult which made the test itself a piece of cake. Scored 97 points out of a possible 115.

Best wishes & study hard.

Hope this helps!

It has been 2 years since I have taken it so it might have changed (i heard it did). The vocab section, I didn't find any exact study guides. Its one of those things that you just hope for the best when you get in there. As far as math goes, make sure you can do freakin math without a calculator. I hadn't done division by hand in YEARS so I didn't do so hot. Also, practice the electrical mazes too. The pilot/nav portion, all pretty much stuff you can do having PPL training. I qualified as both a Nav and Pilot when I took it. Remember you can only take it twice and they don't take the higher score, only the last test taken. If you pass the first time and fail the second your are out of luck.

Hope that helps
