Unless "yourself" sucks..........then, be somebody else who doesn't suck.......

I'm totally kidding. I remember being told this same thing before both my airline and my guard/reserve interviews and feeling like it was getting a bit cliche'. I think that the point to the "be yourself" mantra is that sincerity is paramount. Figure out what it is about you that will make the particular unit better and then focus on those things. I remember being asked how I would feel about the unit being converted to UAV's. Most of the guys that day said they would be excited to be a part of any mission the unit was assigned. Really - I thought? What if the mission was picking up trash? I told them that I would be a bit less than thrilled to have to stop doing what I truly loved - flying. But, if I found myself working with great people for the right cause- it could still end up being a gig worth staying around for. They thanked me for my honesty and not giving them the B.S. party line.

The 908AW/357AS, my old unit!
Participation is important, and traditionally folks living locally participate more than a commuter. Even a 2 hour drive to ATL got old after a while. Think hard about living in Montgomery or Auburn, either of which really aren't bad. Auburn gets you just close enough to ATL to sit short call for DAL.

Good luck

I assume he drinks the beer before the interview and the scotch after?

Just kidding. GOOD LUCK.

Smile at everyone, look everyone in the eyes and grip with a firm handshake.

Tic Tacs. Keep some in your pocket and remember to eat a couple now and then.

Good luck.

Good idea! I actually read somewhere that some of these have "parties" afterwards to try and get to know you better...Haven't heard anything about it for this one though..
