Default The Right Thing

Today in the evening news was footage of a White House bill signing. As part of the Obama stimulus package, he had inserted language honoring members of the Phillipine army who served and fought alongside the US military in WWII. Of the thousands, about 250 remain all of whom were part of the Bataan Death march alongside their US counterparts.

Promised they would receive the same post war benefits as US soldiers by F.D.R., they were denied by Truman as a budget cost cutting measure. After years of persistence, today they got their due. Each will receive a check for $15,000.00.

God Bless 'em all. A long overdue honor and promise is now kept.
