Because the USAF could care less if you know how to fly or not, they teach you that regardless. They want to know if you are adaptable to the military training and aviation environment before they spend the money and burn the UPT slot on someone who is not compatible.

Let me see if I get this correct.

PAOK teaches or has taught IFS for a flight school that did Navy IFS for USN pilot candidates.

The USAF at Vance has JPPT with AF and USN students.

Some students PAOK taught may have gone to Vance for JPPT.

The Navy students at Vance did Navy IFS and the AF accepted them into Phase I and II with no additional training.

PAOK therefore cannot get a pass on IFS, or if PAOK must do IFS, PAOK must do the AF version at Pueblo.

This makes about as much sense as our Hungarian AF friend who had to do Phase II again seven years after getting wings via the ALP syllabus at Laughlin AFB.

PAOK, enjoy the paydays, help out your classmates and make friends for UPT.

They must have missed one or two brain cells on my last promotion, because I would certainly let you skip IFT.

That is just hilarious......... Im done.... for the record this flight school has done navy, but currently does AIR FORCE IFS for some reserve squadrons on the east coast..... that is all :)

Sorry Paok, that new program is news to me. Don't hear as much now that I'm retired and out of the AD training business.

I'm not about to say that everything the AF does re: IFS makes sense. We all know better then that! Along with what TweetDrvr was saying...I know of two former IP's, one who taught AFS (Academy Flight Screening) and one who is a current IFS instructor and former AFS IP, who are competing for an OTS / pilot slot. If they get it they both will have to come through the program they used to teach. Granted it will be strictly a square filler as they will prof advance through every block just to take the check.

All in all though...IFS is a good program.

Paok,

In conclusion, it's 4-5 weeks of orders you should be happy about. I know you say your sq has a bunch of guys on orders right now, but it may not always be that way. Take the money while it's there!

UPTme you must have been out with Stan all night. I am excited for PUB, maybe we will have it at the same time...

Free flying time at the govt's expense....If you are picking things up quickly you will proff advance as well. Could be outta here sooner. On the other hand.if you prof advance and then tube the checkride...the checkride is still tubed. On to a 88 / progress check.

Just curious...has anyone ever been washed out from your IFS program?

Cheers,

In addition to the 4-5 weeks of orders, you'll get paid 58.5 cents a mile if you choose to drive. PHL-PUB is a long drive. Cha-ching. I made a killing on the Brooks trip.
Do you plan to drive to OTS?

The biggest thing for the IFS students to remember is not take this training for granted, but instead take advantage of it. I'm an IP for a flight school that does the USMC IFS program, and every new class that we get there are some people that need to be reminded that they will only get as much out of it as they put into it. Yes they may have and Air Contract, but if they can't manage to learn to fly a Cessna, then they will be assigned to a different job.

Do a lot of you other instructors see this attitude also?
